December's Goodbye...

                                                     December
                                                 All the months go past.
                                                 Each is like a guest,
                                                 December is the last,
                                                 December is the best.
                                                 Each has lovely things,
                                                 Each one is a friend.
                                                 But December brings
                                                 Christmas at the end.

I hope you are finding some  peaceful, breathable moments.

I go to stand behind Sam as he's gazing out the window; to see
what's got his attention. I don't see anything in particular, but
his staring outside continues, not moving. I think he's perhaps
doing a little daydreaming, don't you think? Warmer weather,
laying in the grass, hmm…I leave him to his moment.

Please visit www.cookingthymewithdiana.com for 2 new
RECIPES. A minty cake topper, and stovetop mac and cheese.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne."

December 22…Finishing Touches

It was a beautiful, sunny, cool day. Sam and I had our walk early.
No snow for us on Christmas Day, but winter solstice, the first day
of winter, has arrived. It's the shortest day of the year folks. We
will see the sun's climb, and the days slowly getting longer. Ron is
smiling!
Please enjoy the Peace/Hope picture. You may make a copy, or
save the image and print on heavy card stock and frame.

Hello Christmas Thyme

Have you caught your inspiration yet? Is your tree decorated,
lights shining brightly outside, cookies baked??….Wait stop
the madness! I want you to enjoy yourself. Pick your pleasures
folks. Decide what gives your family the most joy. Traditions
and memories required. Christmas is a thyme of sharing and
celebrating and a season of faith and hope. I want you to…...

How about another fun Christmas fact:

The world's largest gingerbread man was baked in Oslo, Norway,
in 2009 and weighed 1,435 pounds. That's a big cookie!!

Don't you love the Narcissus blooms. I decided to give these
tropical bulbs a try. If planted by the middle of November,
then by Christmas I would have lovely Paperwhites. Soil is
not required. All you need is a bowl, some pebbles to anchor
the bulbs, and sunshine. They only need about 3 inches of root
space. Add only enough water to reach the top of the pebbles
and you're good to go. My bowl is sitting in an east-facing window.
Note the growth after two weeks. I will share my results with you
when they bloom.

This picture is a lead-in for www.cookingthymewithdiana.com
There are 2 new recipes, plus a little extra treat. It's a click away.

Now I think it's thyme for a little picture sharing. But first I want
to share the chalk picture with you, (see above). You may copy or
save the image and print it on heavier paper to frame.

It's December, A Little Bit of Everything

Why I believe the chicks have discovered Santa! Sam just had
to take Mama and the chicks to see the big guy…what a great pup!!

I turned the calendar to a new month. I'm not ready for this month
to begin because it goes quickly and I want it to last just a little bit
longer. December's a time of cold and snow, of glittering lights
and cookies galore. It's about celebrating the season and finding
the joy. Most of all it's about family and faith. Yep 22 days until
Christmas folks. Make your December merry and bright.

Let's have some fun facts this month about the Xmas season.
Here's the first about a very favorite treat.

I think it's thyme for a couple of Christmas crafts. Easy and
inexpensive. How about a Christmas Snow Bowl and a
Cranberry/Vanilla Light In A Jar. Here's how to do them both.
Everything for each project can be found at Walmart. For the
snow bowl you'll need a small fish bowl, artificial snow, red and
green felt balls (mine are glittery balls I've had,) a miniature Xmas
tree, plus other small items of a Xmas nature. An angel, tiny
houses, reindeer, a santa or snowman are also great items.
Put the snow in the bowl, add the extras for your Xmas scene.
That's it. What a sweet gift for someone as well.
For the next project you'll need a jar. It can be a candy jar, a
mason jar, or a small bowl. Make sure it's clear glass. A bag
of fresh cranberries, some artificial greenery, vanilla scented
tea lights, and water. That's it. Place your greenery and
cranberries in the jar, fill with water and place the votive
on top. Light the candle and wait for that wonderful scent.
Do several for a table display.

Okay added a couple of recipes to www.cookingthymewithdiana.com
tap on the link to visit. Also EARTHLY DELIGHTS is your way to
my cooking blog. More recipes to come to come.

I'm sure you're busy decorating, baking, and planning your holiday
season so I just want to say…..

Over the River and Through the Woods

We said thanks and shared our Thanksgiving meal with our family
yesterday. It was a wonderful thyme. Today Ron, Sam the Pug
and I are spending our day just "hanging out." Movies, some
wine, quiet thyme and conversation will happen but first we
mowed, gathered leaves and went for a long walk. We stopped
at Tim Horton's for a light bite and coffee. The girl at the drive
thru says our order was paid for by the car ahead and to wish
us a "Happy Thanksgiving." There were 3 people at the window
by now and they were very happy for us. My heart skipped a
beat. There are good people out there in this crazy world. We
come together…share, bond, and extend the hand. Ron and I
laughed, smiled and said, "we want to pay it forward for the
car behind us, and tell them Happy Thanksgiving." Our friend
at the window smiled brightly, glad to do this. Sam the Pug
received 2 tim-bits.

We are at November's end. My hope is that it was a good one
for you. Nature's weather was kind to us for these past few
weeks. How about some picture sharing.

                                                  November comes
                                                  And November goes,
                                                  With the last red berries
                                                  And the first white snows.

                                                  With night coming early,
                                                  And dawn coming late,
                                                  And ice in the bucket
                                                  And frost by the gate.

                                                 The fires burn
                                                 And the kettles sing,
And the earth sinks to rest
                                                 Until next spring.

Savor the Thyme, New Recipes, A Thought

Oh my. Did you suddenly realize Thanksgiving is next Thursday?
Take a breath now. I bet you at least know where you're going
or who's coming to your house this year… right? I bought myself
some peppermint coffee pods and some plum flavored tea bags
today because I knew I had to take a moment and make some lists.

Let's see, table ready, menu planned, (it never really changes
anyway), it's down to the grocery list. And then when to go to
the grocery store. I want to avoid the masses. Friday, 7:30 am
I'll be there with coffee in hand.

You never want to try a new recipe at the last minute. Go with
what you know. You want new, try it in July! Wait a minute
she'll be fine, promise!
This might be a good thyme to invite you to visit my other blog..
cookingthymewithdiana.com there are 2 new recipes for you.

Start each day with a grateful heart. It's a troubled
world. Be mindful of those who have lost.
